President Obama Must Oppose Wasteful Spending Bill

by Candice Miller on December 19, 2010

U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller (MI-10)  called on President Obama to oppose the Senate’s spending bill for fiscal year 2011 which spends $1.1 trillion and is jammed with unnecessary and excesses spending.  Miller released the following statement:
“Instead of making the hard choices needed to reign in out-of-control federal spending and begin to reduce the federal budget deficit, Senate Democrats have unfortunately put forward a massive 2,000 page spending bill which will add more than $1 trillion to our already $13 trillion national debt and is jammed with more than 6,000 earmarks.  This spending bill is another example that some in Washington did not hear the message of the American people on November 2nd.  In the waning days of this Congress, the Democrats seem bent on jamming through as much new spending as possible before the fiscally responsible new Republican Majority in the House takes office in January.  Every member of Congress should stand up for the wishes of the American people and oppose this reckless spending spree.
“I also call on President Obama to inform the Senate that he will veto this spending bill if it reaches his desk and let everyone know that there will be no more business as usual in Washington, DC.”
