Sterling Heights— More than 40 immigrants from 22 countries became U.S. citizens Friday.

The group took their Oath of Allegiance and became naturalized citizens at a special ceremony held at the Sterling Heights Public Library.

U.S. Eastern District Court of Michigan Judge Marianne O. Battani administered the oath to the new American citizens.

She was joined by U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, and Sterling Heights Mayor Richard Notte.

The ceremony was hosted by the City of Sterling Heights’ Ethnic Community Committee.
