WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Twp., who represents the 10th District that includes Lapeer County, last week released the following statement in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the terror attacks on September 11, 2001:

“The United States of America is the only nation in the history of the world that was founded upon the ideas of individual freedom and liberty and that all men are created equal. Since our founding, Americans have helped to spread that idea across the globe.

“Eleven years ago today, our nation was attacked by cowardly terrorists who murdered nearly 3,000 of our fellow Americans in an attempt to force a retreat from the cause of freedom. In that effort they failed miserably. Since September 11, 2001, we have seen the sons and daughters of liberty step forward to defend our nation and the cause of freedom. They have worked here at home to strengthen our defenses and on battlefields across the world to defeat those who attempt to inflict harm on our great nation.

“On September 11, 2012 our nation remains united in the cause of freedom and ever vigilant in its defense. This stands as a vivid testament that the terrorists have lost and liberty ever endures. God bless America.”
