U.S. Rep. Candice Miller presented a donation of books June 6 to the Reader’s Cove Library of Harsens Island. The books were obtained through the U.S. Library of Congress’ surplus book program in Washington D.C., according to a press release. The books range from fiction, non-fiction, children’s and reference/educational materials.
Located at 3064 S. Channel Drive in Sans Souci, Reader’s Cove has served the Harsens Island community since 1998. The library operates thorough the support of dedicated volunteers who maintain its collection of both adult and children’s literature. A visit to the historic building, once a former drugstore, can be a trip back in time for those 50 and over. The interior features the original soda fountain counter.
