Standing Up For Michigan

Agriculture is Michigan’s second leading industry and ads greatly to the number jobs in our state in addition to being an important segment of our economy. I have always kept in close contact with the leaders of our agricultural industry and was proud to support the recently enacted Farm Bill after receiving their input. This Farm Bill puts our agricultural sector in a position to continue to expand to provide the food our nation needs and continue to be an important part of balancing our international trade.

I will fight any efforts to change aspects of the Farm Bill which have been suggested by the administration that will have an adverse impact on Michigan family farms. I will also continue to work for fair trade that expands our access to foreign markets and will fight any efforts that will put our domestic agricultural industry at disadvantage with foreign competition.

Our farmers are the most innovative and most productive of any in the world and the federal government must continue to act in a way that allows our agricultural sector to thrive.
